Hi! I’m Michelle.
Travel has always been a core part of my life. My first steps ever were on an airplane. I’ve studied in Spain, worked in South Korea, speak 3 languages, and have visited over 35 countries. I guess you could say I have a new passport stamp addiction.
Over the years, I have seen and personally experienced the unhealthy effects of travel – overindulging, not making time for exercise, gaining weight, feeling exhausted…the list goes on. I soon began dreading travel because I felt that I could not prioritize my health and there were no resources available to help.
As a certified fitness trainer and health content producer, my expertise is in health, yet I struggled too. When our routines are disrupted through travel, thoughts like “well, I’m traveling so this doesn’t count” or “I’ll be good once I get back home” justify our unhealthy choices. But enough was enough. Frustrated by how awful I felt after traveling, I decided that if there wasn’t anything to help people feel their best while traveling, I’d create it myself. So Travel Like A Trainer was born.
I took a break from teaching fitness classes, packed my bags, and traveled throughout Southeast Asia for several months. Surrounded by greasy noodles, a lacking “gym culture”, and no structure or routine, I challenged myself to the ultimate test: stay fit, feel energized, and have fun while traveling.
How did it go? I actually lost body fat, maintained my lean muscle mass, adjusted quickly to a new timezone, and had the time of my life.
